Intercooler installation query in Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI(2009)?

I want to install intercooler in 1.4 TDCI ford fiesta, but there is no IAT(intake air temperature sensor) it has only MAF sensor which is beetween airfilter and turbo, so what if i put intercooler after tubro, how would engine senses change in intake air temp… What is meaning of puting intercooler after MAF?
