Can you tow a pop up camper with a 2014 ford escape that does not have the tow package?

i bought it brand new it is a "S" model. So it does not come with the towing package. I recently installed a hitch receiver and my wife wants a pop up camper. My only question is weather i can tow a pop up camper or not. Please no troll posts
