Oil gauge randomly drops to 0 and back to normal?

2001 ford ranger 90,xxx miles
While driving my oil guage will randomly drop to 0 and my check guage light comes on, it only drops to 0 for maybe a couple of seconds and goes back to normal. When i am accelerating and my rpms r high you can hear an irregular revving. I am at a loss as to what this could be, and it does sound concerning as it is messing with my revving
