Valve job on a 98 ford ranger 145k miles?

So i took my truck to my mechanic and he said there was a miss fire in cylinder 4 he tried to see if it the plugs and coils and what not but he then said I needed a valve job and it would be $2500 is that a reasonable price? What should I do? Any advice?
