Ford ranger '03 Fuse blown battery light?

My dome light is loose and ducktaped to the roof, and its caused me to blow the speedometer/windshield wipers fuse four times now. After replacing the fuse this last time, the battery light is on and the battery gage indicates a low battery. I'm thinking I may of damaged an alternatator wire or something. Please help.
