Should I be concerned about a valve seat failure in soon-to be mine 2000 Ford Escort SPI?

I am getting a 2000 Ford Escort LX 2.0 SPI in August. And I've heard lots of horror stories about the valve seat failing. It was 135,000K on it, and from the few months I've been around it, it has been well maintained and has not had many issues. It does not even vibrate terribly as I've heard these engines do.

So how concerned should I really be about a valve seat failure?
