2015 Ford Fusion vs Chevy Malibu?

I been researching on both and can say that the ford fusion has a better interior than the Malibu but I know very little about cars. Therefore I asked advise from family and they have said that the Ford Fusion has a lot of defects and problems. Anyone had either of the two and can give an honest opinion on them?
