What will happen if I put diesel in my 2008 ford explorer?

My boyfriend gave me 2 jugs of gas but neither jug wuz full. I called 2 make sure I could put both jugs in it & 2 ask him if if they were both gasoline & if so why did he five me 2 separate jugs. He said no, 1 is gas. 1 is diesel but you can put it n the car because I use it sometimes in my car. It will hus clean out ur car.
