Classic Car as first car?

I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack from the adults here but I'm 15 1/2 and I wanna get a 1969 chevy chevelle convertible( since I live in LA I can drive the top down everyday) or a 1971 Ford Torino Gt and pretty much any car that fit the models of the previous two that I stated, a lot of the older people I know tell me to get a Honda Civic, but they also tell me I'll wreck my car in the first year, might as well have fun cruising in my 69 Chevelle and get it wrecked than cruise in my boring average Honda Civic and get it wrecked. If any of you have had any of the two cars I stated or any classic car as your first car any help would be nice.
