Side mirror help for parking?

Hello I have a really hard time parallel parking my ford explorer (parents car) I try as much as I can to adjust the rear view mirror to oarallel park but I'm always maybe 8 but at most 12 inches from the curb. The doors like bubble out or block a lot of the view to where I don't see the curb at all. Any tips or something to adjust my mirrors better or what? Thanks
