Will 1984 - 1995 corvette posi rear end hold up to 700 HP?

Or can you get parts to beef a corvette rear end?
I have heard that years ago street racers used to put a Ford Couger rear end in Chevy because the individual axles made it better for handling, so I thought I would check into using a corvette rear end assembly in a rat rod with 700 HP.
