Is the 2008 mazda 3 reliable / a good car?

I just got rid of an 06 ford focus due to reliability issues, it ran me up to $2000 in repairs when I hadn t even owned it for a full year. I don t want a repeat of that so I was wondering if anyone has had experience with mazdas and whether they re the better quality ford cars or if they re more reliable then a focus? I m possibly buying it.
