Truck lacking power feels like its missing but it is not?

I have a 1998 Ford F-150 4.6 v8, Automatic transmission. Started driving it this morning and it felt like the truck wanted to bog down. Had no power almost felt like it was misfiring but it wasnt that bad. When I put the truck in neutral it goes away and I won't feel what feels like a misfiring, but when I put it back in drive it will do it. Again when I put it in drive and drive it it feels power less and truck seems like it does not want to go over 2500 rpm at all. But when I put it in neutral I can rev it over 2500 and it doesn't hesitate. Could this be a tranny problem? I think the tranny is slipping. Please help.
