What is the small metal cross or x looking part under the cruise control for a 2007 ford escape hybrid?

I was using my escape and i accidently knocked the cruise control button off, and a metal x or cross fell out and i was gonna put it on and my sister threw the metal away. Its the metal part that gets pushed down when you turn on and set cruise control under the button. Im looking for a replacement but i have no idea how to find it.
