How often do you see SUVs or crossovers in the city of Los Angeles?

I'm thinking about going to college in Los Angeles in a couple years. I know you'll see a couple of Range Rovers and other expensive luxury SUVs every once in a while. I'm also thinking about buying a 2013-2016 Ford Escape because that's what I'm used to driving. I like it because it's easy to park, small, and has a spacious interior. It also gets good gas mileage. Is there places in the city where I'm not allowed to park but, a sedan can? It's not like it's a Hummer or anything like that.
Added (1). I'm asking more about parking. Is there restrictions on where I can park because of what type of vehicle it is?
Added (2). I'm also looking at the 2011-2015 Ford Explorer and 2011-2016 Ford Flex.
