Is a used Ford F150 4.6I automatic a good but?

A 4 door 4X4 2005 to be exact.
The old 4.6I from 1998 to 2002 was weak. Are the newer Groton engines any good?
Money is tight, so new is not really an option for a truck, unless I but a crappy Dodge Hemi.
