I have 1 more year to pay off my car should i start car shopping now?!

So my 04 jeep GC with 160k owing $6,000 will be paid off by May of 2017, Should i start car shopping now that way once it's paid off for. I can just trade it in somewhere and take that money to make my payoff lower on the new car?
Obviously big dealers won't give me a loan but small ones can. I even went to verify with them…
and no i didn't buy that ugly *** Buick from Ford with my 570 Credit now
Added (1). Like for example these guys said $2500 down and $500 a month for like 3 years… Might not do it though…
