What can I do to my truck to get better gas mileage and performance out of it?

I have a single can short bed 2002 ford f150 with a 4.6l v8 triton vortec engine Wich I use as a daily driver to work and back. Anyways this truck is a big gas gussler and I was wanting for a person with more knowledge to help me give it better gas mileage and a little more power to it. If you can help me out please i would really appreciate it thanks!
