2001 Ford F-150 4x4 front suspension issues?

My 2001 F-150 4x4 is lifted approximately 6" (all suspension) rolling on 35" tires. When it came time for me to get new tires and an alignment, I realized that my front end components are not in good condition. The tie rods are currently scraping against the frame, and there is 2" of play side to side in each front wheel. The center link/drag link is also rotating a lot, which is not helping the cause. SO… A few questions. First off, would a drag link typically be changed to accommodate a lift kit like the one mentioned? Second, is there a commonly recurring issue with this year range truck and play in the front suspension?
