Is a 4x4 truck more fun than a two wheel drive truck?

always love to go off road and I love to go mud bug to thing is my Ford Ranger that was totaled the other day can't go through mud because the two wheel drive. Is four wheel drive more reliable and easier to go off road and is 4x4 more fun than two wheel drive?
