Ford Fiesta is falling apart?!

I have a 2009 Ford Fiesta that recently just conked out on me while I was driving, it didn't stall but completely shut off. Steering was heavy and tried to restart the car. When I did this a cog with an exclamation mark popped up in orange, so I panicked and restarted the car again - worked fine. After a couple of hours, I checked the oil levels and all that. So I went out and left the car off and locked - now my headlights are not working, is this all connected? Someone please help!
