I am struggling to get the gear knob off of my Ford KA Edge (2014) any suggestions?

Hello:) I have tried twisting the gear knob and also pulling it lightly to see if it would come off but it hasn't budged at all, I am very new to the interior car modification thing as I just learned what a "gaitor" is lol. The gear knob is in no way attached to the gaitor or the reversing mechanism which is a bit of plastic you have to pull upwards towards the gear knob. Any suggestions will be very appreciated, thank you:)
