1979 ford f150 302 v8 problems! Crank no start?

My 79 ford has a 302 small block ford, I had to replace the starter in my truck a week ago due too it wasn t kicking back. But before I put the new one on I would start the truck to let it warm up due too it was below 20 degrees. But the truck started to have problems starting it would crank and crank. Then I would dump some gas in the carb and it would crank for a bit then slowly start to fire up. But other I replaced the old starter and had the new one I went to go start the truck and a it did was crank. I poured gas in the carb, and it would just crank and crank. I replaced the coil and I replaced the plug wires. And I got spark and fuel and good compression but still not firing over. Could have something went bad? Or something? I beer disconnected any wires or touch the engine while changing the starters
