I recently got my 2003 ford escape oil changed. Notice a leak and it was transmission fluid?

I just recently goty 2002 ford escape oil changed and they said I had a leak which wasnt there before. I noticed I was losing alot of fluid. I thought it was oil but it was transmission fluid. It s seems to be over filled. Well now my car is struggling to change gears and it wasn t doing that before the oils change
