Is my 1997 Ford Escort LX wagon worth maintaining?

I just purchased a 1997 ford escort LX wagon from a private party for $250 and I was wondering if you guys think it s worth maintaining. It has a high mileage of 212k miles. And it drives great, but it has no reverse. Also, it goes forward in drive AND in neutral and a/c doesn t work. The body has only one smallish dent, some paint has faded, and the interior just needs some detailing. Do you think it s worth fixing it up and sometimes using? I m just going to be using it as a commuter occasionally. Thank you in advance!
